Fair and Warm this Afternoon, Increasing Clouds Overnight

Rain Chances Return by Thursday Afternoon

As a large dome of high pressure slides into the Deep South, onshore flow returns Gulf moisture to the Crossroads this afternoon. The influx of humidity is in advance of a major storm system that promises scattered to numerous thunderstorms Thursday. Storms will become widespread Thursday night and end Friday morning as chilly air sweeps into the region on a stiff northerly wind behind a strong cold front. Daytime temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees lower Friday and Saturday that on Thursday, and highs will linger in the 70s under fair skies through the weekend and into most of next week. Lows will be in the 50s, except for 40s Friday night.
