Extensive Freezing Temperatures Overnight, Slowly Moderating Conditions Rest of Week

Canadian high pressure settling into the Lone Star State will bring freezing conditions that will persist for 6 to 9 hours overnight tonight in the Crossroads. Another light freeze is expected tomorrow night. Protect your tender plants, your pets, the elderly, ill and the very young and wrap your exposed pipes. This first freeze of the fall will result in a significant die-off of tender vegetation. On the good side, it will also kill mosquitoes. Temperatures will moderate through the weekend, then rain chances return with scattered showers and thunderstorms Sunday and Monday. A strong upper level disturbance threatens the likelihood of strong storms on Tuesday.
