Elderly woman involved in a crash Oct. 13 has died

VICTORIA, Texas – 25 News Now has confirmed Pearlie Clifton, 80, of Victoria has died following a crash on Oct. 13, 2022. It happened at 7:40 a.m. in the 2500 block of N. Ben Jordan St. At the time Victoria police officers considered it a minor crash and said the elements required to complete a crash report were not met.
Both parties were provided information to submit the crash information to TxDOT and released from the scene.
Less than an hour later at 8:16 a.m. police got a call about a possible drunk driver at Riverside Park involving one of the vehicles from the previous motor vehicle crash. Police made contact with Pearlie Clifton and determined she had no signs of intoxication. Clifton informed the officer she had hit her head during the earlier crash. Police said she refused medical treatment.
Officers contacted an acquaintance of Clifton’s to respond to the location and give her a ride. Clifton was eventually taken to a local hospital and transported to BAMC in San Antonio. She returned recently to Victoria under hospice care and died Saturday, Oct. 29. She is survived by a son.
