El Campo: Man arrested in connection to shooting

EL CAMPO, Texas – Authorities have arrested a man on six warrants in connection to a shooting on McGrew Street in El Campo.

According to the El Campo Police Department, the warrants issued are for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon , two warrants for Abandon/Endanger a Child Imminent Danger Bodily Injury in connection with the shooting.

Eric Dupree Perry, 25, was arrested and will be transferred to the Wharton County Jail, according to a news statement.

On Friday, February 19 at 9:52 p.m., police responded to a call of gunshots on McGrew Street.

Police stated they later received a call of two gunshot victims at the El Campo Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

The victims had been sitting in a parked car at a home on McGrew Street, police said.

An unknown suspect fired multiple rounds into their vehicle. Both victims were struck by the gunfire, according to the news statement.

The victims drove to the hospital and one was flown to a hospital in Houston and the other stayed for observation.
