East, West Girls Soccer Unbeaten In District

Both Teams Face Big Games Friday

East girls soccer faces a big moment Friday night in Corpus Christi.

The titan girls are in first place in district at 3-0. Now they take on the team that kept them from winning district last year, Veterans Memorial. Head coach Misty Boenig tells me how good she feels about this matchup.

“I have a great feeling. These girls have worked so hard. They’re such a different team than they were last year. They’ve just built on the success that we’ve had last year and just continued to grow as players, but also as a team.”

They’re not the only unbeaten VISD girls soccer team in district. The West girls, currently tied for third at 1-0-1 in district. The Warrior girls are coming off a 1-1 tie with King. Kassandra Persinger scored the West goal and Macey Franz had six saves. A Warriors sophomore told me how well her team is playing in district.

Said midfielder Anneliese Covarrubias, “Honestly I’m feeling pretty good. We have a lot of possibilities throughout this whole season. We’re working well together. ”

West boys and girls soccer play at Memorial Stadium Friday night against Calhoun.
