East, West girls golf headed into regionals
The East and West girls golf teams are both headed to the 5A Region IV tournament this year, which tees off Monday at the Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio.
The Titan girls are coming off their 5th district championship in school history. They beat West by 93 shots for the district title. They also earned the top four individual scores. Senior Madi Lake placed first overall and will look to qualify for the state tournament for the second year in a row. Zayda Cedillo took second at district, and Maddie Mattocks placed third. Karsyn White finished fourth to qualify as an individual.
The West girls are also headed to regionals for the first time in two years. The Warriors finished second overall at district with a two-day score of 758. Their second-round score of 370 was their best score of the season. Sophomore Ansliee Stehling shot an 89 the second round and ended up with the best score for the West girls.
The regional tournament for the girls tees off Monday morning at 8 a.m. and wraps up Tuesday. The East and West boys teams also both qualified for regionals and will play at the same course on Wednesday and Thursday.
