East, West baseball conclude first tournaments of 2019

In their first taste of tournament play in the 2019 season, West baseball came to play.

A year after narrowly missing out on the playoffs, the Warriors have opened 2019 looking like a team with a chip on their shoulder. Playing in their first tournament this weekend in Bishop, West ran the table en route to a tournament victory, defeating Bishop on their home turf to improve to 5-1 on the young season. Colton Matus had three RBI for the Warriors in the championship game, while Colten Salas got the win for West.

The Warriors will play King in a district road contest on Tuesday at 5:30.

In the San Marcos tournament, East baseball had an up-and-do go of it, going 1-2 in the tourney to bring their record to 3-3 so far on the year. After splitting a pair of contests Friday, the Titans fell to Buda Hays 7-5 on Saturday morning to drop their record back to .500. Marc Gonzales had a big afternoon for East, going 2-4 with 3 RBI.

East baseball remains 1-0 in district play this season.
