East Titans dye hair pink before the Battle of the Boot
The Titans beat the undefeated Flour Bluff Hornets last week in a close 30-28 game and are looking to keep that momentum going into what is the most anticipated game of the year
VICTORIA, Texas — The East Titans are looking for revenge this year after they fell short against the Warriors last year. The Titans beat the undefeated Flour Bluff Hornets last week in a close 30-28 game and are looking to keep that momentum going into what is the most anticipated game of the year. East defensive coordinator Doug Kent says he and the team are focusing on the little things and being disciplined this week.
We are still focusing on the fundamentals, this game means a lot to the kids, bragging rights for a year, so it’s a big deal in our community, said Kent. As far as both of our high schools are concerned, they got us last year and we are looking for a little bit of pay back this year.
The Titans decided to do some team bonding and some of the players are dying their hair pink. Quarterback Jadon Williams says this game is important to him because he grew up with some of the athletes on the West team, but there are no friends on the field.
We are coming you know. I wish them all the luck but we are coming. In between those white lines it’s a game, there are no friends in between those white lines, said Williams. After the game we can shake hands and love on eachother, but it’s a rivalry game so that’s what is.
last year running back Ja Carrien Giles wasn’t able to play in the game last year but hopes to make an impact this year. he predicts the score will be 43-20 in favor of East.
I would tell them good luck cause we are going to bring it to them and take the boot back. We are going to whoop that ….. yeah good luck to them too.
the titans lead the series against the warriors 7-4, but when the warriors have won, they have won by a larger margin of points. on average both teams score 30 points when they face off. The kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial stadium.
