East Softball’s First Win Comes At Right Time

Titans Win District Opener

East Softball Practice 2 12

East softball, picking a great time to get its first win of the season Tuesday night.

The Titans went 0-7 in pre-district action. Then in their district opener, East beat Calhoun, 2-1. Cameron Steen was the winning pitcher, going the distance, with 14 strikeouts. A’nasia Wallace homered and drove in both Titan runs. Those are two of the five starters and eight returning varsity players for East. Head coach Melissa Buck told me how big that was to get that district opening win.

“It was great . We were used to starting off the district season 0-1. It seemed like we’d lose that opener at Calhoun every single year. To finally get on the other side of that and start off 1-0 is a good start for our kids.”

East softball starts play in the La Grange tournament Thursday morning at 11:30 against Columbus.
