East Soccer Star Signs With UHV
UHV soccer lands its third former East girls star.
Gabby Valenzuela, signing Thursday with the Jaguars. The senior midfielder had five goals and four assists for the district champions this season. Valenzuela was a first team All-District pick, she was a first team All-Region selection by the Texas Association Of Soccer Coaches, and she played in the TASCO State All-Star game back on May 12. I talked with Gabby and East girls soccer head coach Misty Boenig. Said Valenzuela, “It’s great having everybody here. They all believed in me, they all knew I could do it. I finally had the courage to actually do it. I couldn’t be more happy to have them in my life.” Said coach Boenig, “It’s an awesome honor. Now our current team can go watch the former players all at UHV right here. That’s pretty awesome to have somebody they know and look up to, they can come watch,”
Gabby Valenzuela joins former East teammates Kendyl Charbula and Olivia Salas with UHV women’s soccer.

Walyuchow has served as a NAIA-ADA board member for the past three years.

We’re excited to welcome him to the executive leadership team of the ADA and look forward to his fresh perspective, keen insight and positive contributions.”
In addition to Walyuchow, the 2018-19 NAIA-ADA Officers will include President Mike McCaffrey, Athletics Director at University of Saint Francis; 1st Vice President Kiki Barnes, Athletics Director at Dillard University; 2nd Vice President Joe Glover, Director of Athletics at
