East girls fall to Alamo Heights in regional semis

East girls soccer’s bid to reach their first regional final in program history fell just short Friday night.

The Titans lost to Alamo Heights 3-2 on Friday evening in Corpus in a game that beame a shootout in half number two. Coincidentally, the Mules are the same team that knocked the East girls out of the playoffs the last time they advanced to the regional semis back in 2013.

After neither team was able to find the net in the first forty minutes, the Lady Mules got the scoring started with just over 23 minutes remaining in the contest. The Titans would immediately strike back, however, getting a goal from Chloe Spencer on the ensuing possession to bring the game back level. Following another Alamo Heights goal just one minute later, Titans all-time leading score Kylee Spree-Kolos got in on the action, knotting the game at two in the 71st minute.

Alamo Heights would take the lead for good with just over three minutes remaining, as the East girls ended their season with a record of 18-7-3.
