East Football Keeps The Boot 9-23
Jaguar Men Take First Round Lead
Victoria, Texas —
The Boot is once again staying at East for another year.
East football, holding off a West fourth quarter rally Friday night to win the Battle For The Boot for the seventh time in the Boot’s ten season history. William Garley rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns, as the Titans picked up their first win of the season and evened their district record at 1-1. I asked head coach Roland Gonzalez how he felt his team reacted to all the big game pressure.
“We had some guys that were nervous. The big deal on that is they were able to overcome it. We had some guys that needed to settle down a little bit and they did and they overcame that nervousness and excitement of a venue like that.”
East football returns to district play Friday night in Corpus Christi against Carroll.
