East Boys, West Girls Win Big in VISD Doubleheader

There were no definitive bragging rights to be had.

The Titans and Warriors split their Saturday hoops doubleheader, as the West girls defeated East, 65-44 in the early game before the Titan boys bested the Warriors in the second leg. East rolled to a 58-42 victory in that contest to earn their fifth win of the season, and their second in district. The Warriors, meanwhile, remain winless in district play.

In the girls’ crosstown battle, the Warriors dominated the pace and the game from start to finish behind senior Kennedy Youngblood and her game-high 21 points. The victory improved West’s record on the year to 7-1 in district play, while East fell to 6-2 in district.

The Titan boys, meanwhile, were paced by junior Ethan White’s 16 points in their victory. Elijah Hooker added fourteen as East now turns their focus to a district contest against Calhoun Tuesday night.

All four VISD varsity programs will be in action Tuesday, with the Titan hosting the Sandcrabs, while the Warrior boys and girls teams will travel to Corpus for district contests against Carroll.
