East baseball faces uncertainty ahead
Titans started the season 3-0 in district
VICTORIA, Texas — Less than a week ago, East baseball was 3-0 in district play. Now, they’re unsure — like countless other programs across the country — when they’ll take the field again.
“We talk about ‘controllables’, and this is something that’s definitely out of our control,” head coach Wes Kolle said on Tuesday.
He added that he expects his players to do what they can individually while UIL competition is suspended, which the organization announced will be the case through at least March 29th. Kolle said baseball players can get watch film and study clips of their favorite players in addition to remaining in game shape.
“Our guys need to make sure that they’re working out at home, doing stuff on their own,” said Kolle. “Some of the mental training that we’ve sent them is just watching YouTube clips, or games on YouTube on the internet.”
At present, it’s unclear if and when competition will resume, with major sports leagues around the country postponing events until May or later.
