DWI crash sends a family of four to the hospital in critical condition
A family of four had to be transferred to San Antonio for critical condition treatment after a drunk driver crashed into them
VICTORIA, Texas – On the night of Easter Monday, a DWI crash sent a mother and her 3 children to the hospital.
The crash occurred near the 3300 block of North Ben Jordan street. This vehicle had the mother, Valerie Garcia, and her 3 children inside of it.
While the mother’s two boys have been released from the hospital, Emma Garcia, the youngest is still in critical condition.
A friend of the family affected by the crash, Larry Longoria, said he has known them for more than 10 years and he considers the kids as his own relatives.
Friends of the family have been overwhelmed with all the help provided by the community.
“Everything from here on out is just a blessing. I mean honestly, it really is, we don’t have a goal or anything said in mind because like I said. When we started to do this, I said, let’s just do the best that we can, with what we got. You know, we’ll just be happy and you know thank God for whatever we get. When it took off the way it did, we were and are still in shock, still in awe and amazement of the whole thing,” Longoria said.
So far, there has been 1 fundraiser held in their honor, a bake sale they had recently to raise funds was a success.
Since this crash affected the entire family, Larry Longoria, said they are selling shirts, hats, and other merchandise to help out the Garcia’s even more.
“Actually there’s been a lot of different places because I’ve actually had people ask me if I could ship them a shirt. If I was able to ship them and I was like yes. You know, and I’ve told people, if there’s a special request that you have. I will do it. You know anything, it does not matter, if I can make it. I will make it for you, you know,” he said.
