Driver strikes home while trying to evade police
VICTORIA, Texas — On Thursday, 06/27/2019, approximately 7:40 AM, VPD officers attempted to stop a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra for a traffic violation in the area of Tanglewood Square.
The vehicle did not stop and fled officers.
The pursuit ended in the 2000 block of E. Crestwood Dr. when the driver of the Elantra, 21 year old Victoria resident Jaikquael Bedford, left the roadway and struck a residence in the 2000 block of E. Crestwood Dr.
Pursuing officer struck a utility pole located on the corner of Crestwood Dr. and Halsey St.
Bedford was located in the area, arrested, and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle and Fleeing Police.
He is in the custody of the Victoria County Jail.
The officers involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries and released.
Bedford nor the occupant of the residence were injured.
