Synopsis: The low-pressure storm from the Gulf moved west and as of 3am Monday the storm was (centered) southwest of Laredo.  The storm is keeping South Texas on the high side for moisture (greater than 2.5″).  There is a Flood Watch until 7 pm for portions of South Texas with more rain and thunderstorm potential on the way.  The area could see 3-5″ of rain with some spots at 5″ plus of rain.  The droughts around here usually end in a flood, but at least we are getting some measurable rain to start chipping away at our drought conditions.

This storm will move out of the region Monday night while high pressure builds into the area (for a day or so) from out of the north.

For the long term, Tuesday through Sunday, high pressure will move in on Tuesday, but lingering moisture from the last few storms combined with heating from the sun could be enough to generate some showers along the Seabreeze on Tuesday.

The high will strengthen on Wednesday, dropping moisture levels down to 1.7″.  Wednesday now looks to be the dry day during the week. Troughs over the eastern portion of the United States will move west and into South (central) Texas by Thursday night.  The trough will bring rain to South Texas by pushing a front into the area on Friday.  The lift (energy) will not be off of the charts so light rain might be what the area encounters.

Next weekend, a trough in the Northwestern Gulf will move deep into South Texas.  This storm will stay further south than the one from last weekend but could still increase rain chances for the area.  By Tuesday, heat indices will climb back up to 105-109 degrees, and they will stay there through the end of the week.

Tropical Update: A trough of low-pressure sits out in the Atlantic Ocean several hundred miles southeast of Bermuda.  This disorganized area of clouds and showers will head north northwest but will move into unfavorable weather conditions (wind) and does not show any signs of further development or further strengthening.  The chance for further development and strengthening over the next 48 hours is a 10 percent chance or less while over the next 5 days there is still a 10 percent chance or less.
