Dr. Pepper celebrates Texas heritage with petition to become the Great State’s official soft drink

Once a Texan, always a Texan! Dr Pepper, the iconic Texas-born beverage brand, announced Tuesday the launch of a petition to become the official soft drink of Texas.

Established in the Lone Star State in 1885 and beloved by Texans for generations, Dr Pepper is calling on its passionate fans to sign the Change.org petition and make their voices heard. To celebrate the movement, Dr Pepper will also debut a collection of special edition bottles inspired by the brand’s Texas roots, available only in-state for a limited time.

The Dr Pepper Texas-inspired bottle collection includes 15 unique labels with artwork depicting some of the state’s most iconic landmarks and landscapes.

The 20 oz bottles are available for purchase in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Waco, and fans are encouraged to collect them all in honor of the great state of Texas and its beloved beverage brand.

“Dr Pepper is Texas born and bred, and like any Texan, has only the deepest pride and appreciation for its home state,” said Derek Dabrowski, VP of Brand Marketing at Keurig Dr Pepper. “This one-of-a-kind bottle collection was created exclusively for the passionate fans that also call it home. Dr Pepper has a rich history in the Lone Star State and being named its official soft drink would mark a new milestone to celebrate for generations to come.”

Created in Waco, TX in 1885, Dr Pepper is the oldest major soft drink in the United States. Fans can join the brand’s mission to confirm its icon status by signing the Change.org petition and sharing on social media using #DrPepperLovesTX.
