DPS: Wrong way driver killed in head on collision
Two children, a teen and one adult woman sent to hospital in head on collision
VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas – Just before 8 p.m. Thursday night the DPS worked a two vehicle crash on southbound U.S. Hwy 87 near Guadalupe Rd. It was a head on collision with a wrong way driver.
Authorities said a 2000 GMC SUV driven by Arnold Sanchez, 65, of Victoria, was traveling north in the south inside lane. Sanchez died at the scene.
The other vehicle was a 2019 Toyota passenger car driven by a 17-year-old from Port Lavaca. She was traveling south on U.S. Hwy 87 when she was hit in the front left bumper. An adult woman was in the passenger seat and two children were also in the car. All four people in the car were taken to a Victoria hospital and are expected to recover.
U.S. Hwy 87 northbound lanes were closed for about three hours Thursday night. The DPS is still investigating the crash.
