DPS investigates fatal crash in Lavaca County

According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, on Thursday, November 7, a fatal crash occurred on County Road 143 in Lavaca County at about 1:30 PM.

Michael David Ploch, a 16-year-old from Hallettsville was driving a 2016 Ford-250 at an unsafe speed. Approaching a left curve, the vehicle impacted a tree on the right side of the roadway.

Passenger Brazos Kash Wood, a 16-year-old from Hallettsville, was in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the Lavaca Medical center later that afternoon by Dr. Oakley.

Ploch sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing safety belts. The crash remains under investigation.
