Downtown Farmers Market Reopens in Victoria
The Victoria farmers market will be open to the public again, after taking a break from the hot weather..local farmers are preparing to help serve the community.
It takes a lot of patience to grow a garden, but to grow a successful one, well that requires a lot of love.
“There’s an awful lot of hard work, time and money that goes into this,” says Goliad Farmer Andy Janca.
It wasn’t very long before Andy and Michelle Janca realized they bite off more than they could chew.
The couple decided to share the fruits of their labor with the downtown farmers market.
“Its important for those people that want to know where there food is coming from, and for the ones that want to have a connection with the farmer that’s growing their stuff,” Janca says.
“The Farmers Market is to provide fresh produce to the community on a weekly basis,” says CEO of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent Robin Cadle.
“The farmers came back out mid October. They didn’t have a whole lot to begin with. Now that crops are coming in, they have more access.”
It’s a recipe for health Andy says everyone should be able to enjoy.
“We really appreciate those customers that come out to support us, and we hope that number continues to grow,” he says.
