District 3 Council member race now has four candidates
The council member race for Victoria's District three, now has four candidates competing.
VICTORIA, Texas – The race for district’s three’s council member position has an unexpired term, ending in may 2024.
The deadline for anyone living in the district to apply is on Monday, May 24.
Franco wants the community to know he is running to serve everyone in Victoria.
“I ran this campaign because I want to represent the people of District 3 and they deserve to have somebody who genuinely wants to be here for them. Support them and be their voice. We’re going to be around, we want to see the city succeed and I want to be a part of that for you. I want your voices to be heard, I’ve said that the entire time. You know, I want to build that connection between our community and our local government. So that we can hear each other out and see what’s working and what doesn’t work. Then, really figure out what you want in your city,” Franco said.
Joe Geistman has lived in Victoria all his life and is self-employed.
As a full-time stay at home dad, some of his hobbies include carpentry and spending time with his kids.
Geistman wants to get more involved as a council member, to help the youth increase entrepreneurship.
“In my heart, I feel like Victoria would be better off having me on City council because of the job I’m going to do for them and how hard I’m going to work. What I’m going to do just to solely benefit this community. It’s not just entrepreneurialism, but also offering something exciting here for kids to go to work for, something other than… You make really good livings at the chemical plants and the oil fields and stuff. I think with the direction that a lot of the youth is wanting to go these days. More technology based stuff,” Geistman said.
Lee Andrew Cantu is an Environmental, Health, & Safety Senior Tech at DOW.
He’s a father and enjoys watching his children’s sports games.
Cantu has always been interested in politics and helping others to “Pay it forward.”
In a statement, he mentioned feeling enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve the community.
To give back and to be the voice for the folks here in Victoria.
Duane Gregory Crocker is an attorney and he’s lived in district three for 17 years.
He’s a father and likes to golf during his spare time.
In a statement, Crocker said, Victoria’s citizens deserve strong, common sense, fiscally conservative representation before their city government.
