District 27 race heats up

Democrat nominee in District 27, Eric Holguin, is criticizing Republican Congressman Michael Cloud for sending out a survey.

“I encourage constituents of this district to call his main office in Victoria at (361) 894-6446 and tell him to stop using our taxpayer resources on his campaign messaging . He should be asking questions about ACTUAL issues pertaining to our district – veteran’s healthcare, infrastructure, education, Hurricane Harvey recovery & hurricane preparedness, our ports & military bases. We can do better than this – and we will in November,” Holguin posted to Facebook.

Holguin has also expressed he wants more debates with Congressman Cloud and accused him of avoiding his constituents and avoiding questions.

In response, Congressman Cloud released this statement through his campaign:

“Congressman Cloud has engaged in no fewer than 18 policy forums and debates on issues facing his fellow Texans in the 27th District — including as recently as last week in Corpus Christi and has held dozens of meeting (sic) with constituents over the past week and a half. Less than a month ago, voters overwhelmingly indicated they want Congressman Michael Cloud representing them. Currently, Congressman Cloud is focused on doing the work he was elected to do. We look forward to continued spirited debate closer to the election.”

The final day to register to vote in the November 6th election is October 9th.
