Disaster status lifted in Victoria
City and County end disaster declarations in Victoria
VICTORIA, Texas- Thursday afternoon Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller and Victoria Mayor Rawley McCoy signed orders to terminate the City and County Disaster Declarations. The orders were issued on March 16, 2020.
The Victoria Emergency Management has worked tirelessly to keep Victoria safe from the spread of COVID-19. The local disaster declarations cleared the way for area leaders to take advantage of state and federal resources to protect the public from COVID-19.
The City of Victoria wrote this in a social media post: “Victoria’s local officials have remained dedicated to their responsibility to inform the public and combat the spread of COVID-19. Thanks to the continued efforts of our community and the hard work of our emergency and public health officials, the need for a continued disaster declaration does not exist at this time.”
