DeWitt officials advising against outdoor burning

DEWITT COUNTY – Firefighters in DeWitt County are issuing a warning regarding outdoor burning.

According to the volunteer fire department, they responded to three fires Saturday – all which have burned up to at least 200 acres of land.

The National Weather Service plans to issue a fire weather watch on Sunday due to low humidity and strong winds expected in the next 24 to 48 hours. DeWitt county is not under a burn ban, however, officials strongly advise against outdoor burning on Sunday.

The discussion of a burn ban is on the agenda for Commissioners Court in Cuero, Monday morning.
