DeWitt fire officials ask for your help to keep firefighters hydrated

Firefighters must stay hydrated when out working calls in the heat. For the fire departments to have bottled water and or sports drinks on the scenes they must pay for this out of the funds that are used to purchase equipment. Budgets are tight and for the volunteer fire departments that must raise money for what they need it is even tighter.

With the partnership of the Cuero Walmart, fire departments from across DeWitt County will be asking for your assistance in purchasing water, Gatorade/Powerade and light snacks that they will share while working fires and protecting the county residents.

Please come out to the Cuero Walmart from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 th and meet the fire fighters and possibly donate a case or 2 of water to the cause. All donations will be distributed to all of the DeWitt County Fire Departments and Volunteer Fire Departments and accessible to all first responders on any scenes. If you are unable to attend you can always make donations directly to any fire station or contact the DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management at 361-275-0878 to arrange to pick up your donation.
