DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen was burning brush and accidentally fell into the fire
DEWITT COUNTY, Texas – DeWitt County Sheriff Carl Bowen was burning brush on his property in Yorktown Saturday, October 23, 2021 around 6 p.m. when he accidentally fell into the fire. He was able to get out of the flames and call for help.
The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office shared a post on its Facebook page that says Sheriff Bowen had burns on over 40% of his body.
Yorktown EMS and the Sheriff’s office responded to the scene. Sheriff Bowen was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. At last report he was awake and alert and receiving treatment for his burns.
