DeWitt County grass fire 100% contained
The fire had been 100% contained with a fire break placed completely around the fire area as of 9:00 pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2017. Most hotspots were extinguished, however due to the large trees, some will remain smoldering for days. The fire area was reviewed by the Texas A&M Forest Service and Cuero Volunteer fire agreed that it should no longer cause a threat to structures.
DeWitt County Office of Emergency Management would like to thank the fire departments from the surrounding counties and the Texas A&M Forest Service for their response and assistance with this fire.
Reminder that DeWitt County is under a burn ban until further notice. No outdoor burning.
