DeWitt County Deputies investigate malnourished horses
The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint on Wednesday January 25th, of four horses that appeared to be malnourished.
During the deputy’s investigation he discovered four horses that were thin and appeared to be unkept.
There was very little water and no edible feed for the horses to be found. DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office petitioned Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Robinson for a warrant to seize the animals and it was executed at 2419 US Hwy 87 North in Cuero at approximately 9:00 am. January 26, 2017.
The horses were taken to a local veterinarian where their initial condition was listed as poor.
The case is still under investigation to determine if charges will be filed against the owner of the horses.
