DATE CORRECTION: Weather report: Snow flakes expected at Nursery Elementary
(Corpus Christi, TX) It’s looking a lot like snow … again! Author and book creator Kathryn Childers will visit several hundred students at Nursery Elementary on Tuesday, December 4th.
While on campus, she will read her book, More Snow for Kids, a children’s read-along that recounts the magical and miraculous Christmas 2004 Texas snowfall.
The memorable meteorological event saw up to 12 inches of snowfall for 500 miles from Houston and Galveston down south to Brownsville and South Padre Island – all areas that hadn’t seen snow in more than 100 years!
In addition, Kathryn will also show a DVD that captures the behind-the-scenes steps in making the kid’s book including the entire illustration process, printing presses, and bindery work.
She will also answer questions and autograph books. Elle, Kathryn’s cocker spaniel, will also be in attendance at the school as she was featured in the book as well.
Kathryn and her son, Clark Childers, co-wrote “More Snow for Kids” by collaborating with internationally renowned clay artist and illustrator William Wilhelmi.
The “snowy” team combined clay artwork illustration on clay tablets with photographs and rhythmic verse to create the only contemporary children’s book of its kind.
Kathryn will also showcase “More Snow,” a beautiful coffee table book that brings together the best of thousands of photographs by both amateur and professionals showcasing the once-in-a-lifetime snowfall. With more than 600 images, the collection features pristine winter wonderland images.
Since 2004, more than 100,000 snow books have been sold – the original “Snow,” “More Snow,” and “More Snow for Kids.”
The last two books are available at www.texassnowbooks.com.
An earlier version said the visit would be on Monday December 3rd, but the correct date is Tuesday, Dec. 4th.
