Cuero Regional encourage everyone to wear red on National Wear Red Day

Friday is National Wear Red Day and Cuero Regional Hospital is encouraging residents to wear red to support women’s heart education.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in america, claiming more lives than every form of cancer combined.

According to the American Heart Association, one in three women die from heart related diseases each year. That makes one death per minute.

The hospital hopes to use national wear red day to spread awareness and encourage women to get smart on their heart health.

“[Women] tend to ignore a lot of the warning signs that come along with cardiovascular disease,” states Marketing Director Emily Weatherly. “So, when we think about the Go Red Day, we want to use this day, and the heart month, to recognize that women do need to prioritize their health and they need to know their numbers. “

Common risk factors for heart disease you can control include smoking, lack of regular activity and high blood pressure.

If you’re concerned that you may have a heart related disease, you can schedule an appointment with Cuero Regional Hospital by dialing (361) 275-0170.
