Cuero hospital provides phone line, form for Phase 1B vaccinations

CUERO, Texas  – More than 600 hundred people have signed up for the COVID-19 vaccine through Cuero Regional Hospital.

The online form for those that qualify was shared earlier this week in anticipation of more shipments of the vaccine to Cuero Regional Hospital.

“We are currently awaiting our second allocation, we are very hopeful based on the information that we are seeing with the state, they are looking to partner with rural hospitals that can administer 200 to 400 doses a day,” said Emily Weatherly, marketing director for the hospital.

If you are 65 years old or older or have a certain medical condition, you may qualify for a COVID-19 vaccine.
“But in order to make that process much more streamlined and also to give the public the peace of mind that they have their name on a list, we have established an online waiting list that you can easily access from our website, which is and it’ll ask you a few simple questions and mainly we want to make sure you do fall into Tier 1B,” Weatherly said.
While area hospitals await more shipments of the vaccine, DeWitt County has completed the vaccination of its healthcare professionals and first responders.
“We know there were several that held back to see how the first round did,” Weatherly said. “We had very mild symptoms, typically many of us had soreness around the injection site and some low temperatures but that’s a very typical reaction so once we do receive that allocation we can get that to the public as quickly as possible. .”
