Cuero Girls’ Softball Team Heads To State
Junior League All-Stars' First State Trip

A Cuero team gets to celebrate Wednesday night. These girls have good reason to party.
The Cuero Junior League Softball All-Stars, going to the state tournament for the very first time this week. The Cuero girls have gone 5-0 in the playoffs, outscoring their opponents 40 runs to one. I talked with two of the state-bound Cuero girls.
Said catcher McKayla Ybarra, “Actually it’s very exciting being around the people that you love and the environment. It’s great. Then being around the game that you’ve been around since tee ball. It’s a great experience.”
Said head coach Wayne Kuecker, “It’s very exciting, something I’ve never done before. Good group of girls here. Ultimately they’re the ones playing the game. They make the coach look good. It’s a big deal for me.”
Cuero Junior League Softball All-Stars start play at state Saturday night at 7:00 in El Campo.
