Crossroads National Night Out on October 2nd

National Night Out is an annual community building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

In Texas, National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday in October.

Victoria

Neighborhoods across the nation will be hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits. In Victoria, National Night Out is Tuesday, October 2, 6-9 p.m. Residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Police and Fire Department personnel will stop by to visit with many of the residents whose parties are registered with the Police Department. To get started, there will be a Safety Fair and Kick-Off Party on Saturday, September 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. Wharton

The City of Wharton’s National Night Out Event is October 2, 2018 from 6:30p to 9:00p (WCJC Parking Lot # 1).

In addition to the festivities, we encourage our friends and neighbors to come together in what is commonly known as “block parties.”

They can be as big or as small as you’d like, and each street event will be visited by Chief Terry David Lynch and other city officials.

This is a perfect way to meet your neighbors or to strengthen the relationship that already exists.

If you’re interested in hosting a gathering for your surrounding streets, please contact Detective Soltura @ 979 532-4811 x 517 for more info or via email at asoltura@cityofwharton.com.
