Amanda Johnson's employer is helping her family raise funeral funds.

VICTORIA, Texas – On Sunday, April 18, the Matagorda Sheriff’s Office found a burned out 2018 Ford Explorer with human remains.

They contacted surrounding police departments about a missing person’s report and the Victoria Police Department confirmed this vehicle was associated with Amanda Johnson from Victoria.

The Victoria Police Department confirmed Johnson was reported missing Saturday, April 17, 2021. Wednesday the Matagorda County Examiner’s Office positively identified the human remains as Amanda Johnson.

Johnson was 38-years-old, had two children, and was known for being a great mother.

Many of her coworkers at the CrossFit 302 gym said she was admired by many gym members, family, and friends.

Ray Bazan, CrossFit Gym Owner, said she was a really good person and he enjoyed working with Amanda for 8 years.

“I’ve known Amanda for about 8 years, she worked with us here at the gym. Going about 8 years actually and that’s pretty much about how long I’ve know her. We worked together, you know and talked a lot here at the gym. As coworkers, you know, and as friends from here at the gym. We want her to just be remembered, you know, and not forgotten,” Bazan said.

There’s already a memorial fund to help pay for funeral expenses, where donors can purchase a bracelet.

Also, the gym is planning to have a tribute for Amanda Johnson on Saturday, May 1, as another way to help raise more funeral funds.

“We’re going to be doing a little event here on May 1st. We’re going to try to do a little fundraiser, we’re going to do what I call a little tribute wad for her. A little workout, we’re going to do for her and then we’re just going to hope to see if we can get people to come out and donate whatever they want. We’re going to have some food and drinks out here,” Ray Bazan said.

Amanda Johnson’s family and friends appreciate everyone’s prayers and support so far.
