Specimen pod collection suspended due to lack of supplies

VICTORIA, Texas —  At their daily press briefing on Tuesday, the Victoria Office of Emergency Management (OEM) announced that COVID-19 testing at the Victoria Community Center will be temporarily suspended due to a lack of supplies.

Victoria Public Health Authority Dr. John McNeill said at the briefing that the county is having trouble getting additional testing equipment, such as swabs. Dr. McNeill added that they will re-open testing at the Community Center when they get more testing equipment, but until then testing can only be done through the private sector.

Victoria OEM also announced three new positive cases of COVID-19 in Victoria County, bringing the county’s total number of positive cases to 53. Two people in Victoria County remain in stable condition in the ICU with COVID-19 symptoms.

There will be no press briefing from Friday, April 10 to Sunday, April 12, and the COVID-19 hotline will not be operational during that time. Normal communication operations will resume on Monday, April 13. COVID-19 counts, along with relevant breaking information, will continue to be posted daily.
