COVID-19 Clean-Up Begins At Local Gymnastics Center
Manning's In Clean-Up Mode This Week
At Manning Gymnastics Wednesday, the start of a cleanup process that will last the rest of the week. Manning’s has been closed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Manning’s trampoline and tumbling team was supposed to compete at state last weekend and at regionals next weekend. Those events have been canceled. The Manning gymnastics team’s season ended right after it started. Manning head coaches told us about this very unusual and tough season.
Said Manning Junior Olympics head coach Beth Perez, ” That part is disappointing that our optional level girls’ season got cut short. They had qualified for state and they were going to hopefully qualify for regionals. Now all of that’s been taken away.”
Said Manning TNT head coach Chad Ganaway, “It’s really heartbreaking because of how hard these athletes work and how much they put in to go to these competitions. For all this to be taken away is definitely heartbreaking for all of us.”
Manning gymnastics plans to reopen June 1. The gymnasts will be in smaller groups, with social distancing, and coaches will be wearing masks.
