County reports 44% of positive COVID-19 cases stem from Post Acute outbreak

VICTORIA, Texas — At Thursday’s COVID-19 press briefing, Victoria Office of Emergency Management (OEM) personnel announced that 44% of the county’s now 70 positive cases of the novel coronavirus stem from an outbreak at Post Acute Medical.

According to Public Health Authority Dr. John McNeill, that outbreak — 31 cases in total — has now stabilized as Post Acute transitions into a COVID-19 facility. Only stable patients will be treated there.

As of 2:30 pm on Thursday, the county reported nine new cases of the virus, bringing the total to 70. Two coronavirus patients remain on ventilators in Victoria hospitals.

Due to Good Friday and the Easter holiday, no COVID-19 press briefing will be held on Friday. The next OEM press briefing will take place on Monday at 3 pm.
