County commissioners finalizing grant contract to purchase Constitution St. building
VICTORIA, Texas — The Victoria County commissioners are finalizing contract details to accept a grant award from Rebuild Texas to purchase and renovate the old Victoria Advocate building.
The $1,099,000 grant would be used to purchase and renovate the advocate building for the Victoria County Long Term Recovery Group to use as their permanent home.
County commissioners delayed a vote to accept the grant in order to clear up minor issues in the contract related to the county’s usage of the building.
Once those details are ironed out, County Judge Ben Zeller says he will be more than happy to accept the contract to give the long term recovery group a new, permanent home.
“t’s gonna be a win-win situation to get these folks in a facility that’s excellent and well suited for their needs, but, also give the county some office space, some square footage to eventually expand as those needs arise.”
County commissioners hope to resolve any issues with the contract in the coming weeks and expect to vote and approve the grant by mid to late March.
