County Commissioners approve purchase of downtown building
VICTORIA, Texas — Victoria County Commissioners approved the purchase of a building on East Constitution that will be used as a disaster recovery center.
Commissioners approved a one million dollar grant from Rebuild Texas which will be used to purchase the old Advocate building on East Constitution.
The building will serve as the new home for the Victoria County long Term Recovery group and will act as a disaster response and recovery center.
” There’s no red flags or environmental concerns that would prevent us from proceeding. So, we took that big step today. And, we’re eager to seal the deal, get them in a permanent home and have the extra space available to the county, ” said Ben Zeller, County Judge, Victoria.
The county wants to have the long term recovery group moved into their new home by June 2020.
