Synopsis: Moisture will increase as airflow out of the Gulf moves inland.  This moisture increase out ahead of a cold front (moving down from the northwest) will trigger some showers for late Thursday afternoon and evening.  Tonight and into Thursday the winds will stay on the light side.  They pick up on Friday as the boundary moves through South Texas.  Upper-level winds combined with some upward spin will increase those winds, which will trigger those showers (best chances along the coast and over the water) once again for as early as Thursday afternoon. Accumulations will not be too staggering (maybe less than 0.05″).

For the long term, Friday through Tuesday, the cold front should move southeast through the viewing area on Friday morning.  Daytime heating from the sun combined with the winds and moisture will bring a marginal risk (15 percent chance) for severe weather on Friday.  As the front pushes through, behind or northwest of the front, winds will pick up out of the northwest (NW 15-20/G30) on Friday afternoon.  Low humidity (30 percent) combined with winds and dry conditions could be a small concern for fire weather on Friday evening.  High pressure moves in and light wind with sunshine should be the conditions the rest of the way.

Tropical Update: A storm near Turks and Caicos is strengthening a little bit in the tropical waters but the storm will move north into some upper-level winds that could weaken the storm before moving north but staying a little bit west of Bermuda.
