Community Unites for Prayer Service Following Mosque Fire
Sunday morning, the community began a prayer service with the Pledge of Allegiance.
But the “one and indivisible” part belongs to the people of Victoria.
“We are the neighbors of each other. We have religious freedom in this world and this is a beautiful building. I believe love conquers all,” says resident Barbara Skipper
Barbara skipper is talking in reference to a tragic fire that destroyed the Victoria Islamic Center early Saturday morning.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Doesn’t matter what the cause may be. Either it be intentional or accidental, we forgive that person,” says President of the Victoria Islamic Center, Shahid Hashmi.
The outpouring of love and support continues to fill the hearts of those saddened by the destruction.
“The Islamic community here has been strong. It has also been very loving. This is a microcosm of America,” says Victoria resident Dan Dugi.
Not a crowd of differing faiths pledges allegiance like how Victoria does with their Islamic community.
