Demographer, district administrators share why rezoning is needed

VICTORIA, Texas – A Monday evening  community forum addressed rezoning changes that are anticipated to impact at least 450 elementary school students in the Victoria school district.

Projections show Schorlemmer Elementary School and Vickers Elementary School are anticipated to be well-beyond capacity during the 2024-2025 school year.

Students attending Mission Valley, DeLeon, Rowland, Chandler and Smith elementary schools will experience no changes under the recommended zoning modifications being proposed by school district’s community taskforce.

The Victoria ISD school board meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 20 and will discuss community feedback gathered from the two forums before taking official action on rezoning.
