Community Crossroads welcomes your favorite DJs from KVIC

In the 1970’s radio was much different than it is today. You had live disc jockeys who played 45 rpm records 24 hours a day. The radio talent were larger than life and involved in the community. This weekend, we’ll meet some of those DJs who used to spin some of your favorite records at KVIC. It’s a reunion with eight of the greatest DJs who served Victoria.

The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are in need of Election Judges and poll workers for the upcoming election season. To become an Election Judge or poll worker go by the Victoria County Election Administration Office at 2805 N. Navarro St. Ste. 500 or call 361-576-0124 for more details. Pack the Park is an event by Tree of Life Church at 7006 N. Navarro St. The church meets at the Hampton Inn. The event takes place Saturday, August 18th at the Kids Park at Riverside Park by the softball fields from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Expect face painting and hot dogs. Call 361-676-5296 for more information.

Next weekend join us as we learn about the Flip Flop Fest. We’ll talk about Fill the Boot and August 25th marks one year since Hurricane Harvey. We’ll tell you all about Victoria Strong, an event planned for downtown on the 25th from 4 p.m. to midnight. It’s hosted by Constance Filley Johnson and produced by Clay Crockett. Jarrod Birmingham and Austin Meade will perform on stage. You’ll also enjoy Legal Limit, Texas Continentals, Sierra Alexis and Will Cisneros.
