Community Crossroads welcomes Victoria Harley-Davidson

This week on Community Crossroads the Victoria Fire Department is recruiting for its 2018 Fire Academy Class. It’s June 4th – September 15th. Cost is $2500. Fire Chief Taner Drake has served the Victoria Fire Department for seven years. He’ll explain what inspired him to become a firefighter and tell us what it takes to make it in the industry. Chief Drake became a firefighter 26 years ago. The Victoria Fire Department has six stations and is currently recruiting.

Professor Debra Chronister with Victoria College will talk about Lyceum Speaker Ian Connacher. The Canadian filmmaker will showcase “Addicted to Plastic”. It is April 17th at 2 p.m. at the Student Center. Learn how to reduce plastic waste in your daily life.

Victoria Harley-Davidson is hosting its 21st Annual Five Points Blood Drive April 21st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 608 N. Moody. Expect BBQ, prizes and a free t-shirt to those who donate blood. The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center notes one blood donation can save three lives.

The event honors Kenneth Gentry, a lifelong resident of the Crossroads who lost his battle with cancer in 2014. For 15 years the event honored Tony Borowicz, a former HOG member who died due to kidney failure in 1997.

Restoration House Ministries will talk about an obstacle course challenge. This is the 2nd Annual 1000 Strong 5k Obstacle Challenge Run.
