Diana Sneed and Morgan Mueller from Golden Crescent CASA discussed how you can become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and help children in our community.

In order to become a volunteer, you must be 21 and older, fill out the application online, and complete 30 hours of service training. Sneed and Mueller also say that as an advocate, you may attend courtroom observations, learn about court reporting and more. Their upcoming training class to become a volunteer will be on January 21, 2020. You can also go to goldencrescentcasa.org for more information.

The Salvation Army

It’s Bell Ringing time. The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring in the holiday for a good cause. This is a great time for college students, groups and many others to be part of a community service. Great news! You can also get paid to be a ringer. There are a few locations that are accepting full-time ringers. So, keep an eye out and apply.

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church will be hosting their free community Thanksgiving meal this year. Thankfully, the church says all the food for the meals are covered, but they are in need of monetary donations. Last year, the church served close to 600 meals. Initially, the meals were just for people in need, but now, the church says everyone is invited.
The Thanksgiving meal will be on November 23 from 5:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. The church does want the community to know that they will also have coats available the day of for people who may need one.

Schlitterbahn

Schlitterbahn is headed for a make-over and new low season pass prices for 2020. There are a lot of exciting changes coming for one of the world’s best water parks. There’s more news! The season pass prices are at their lowest they’ve ever been in Galveston and the lowest in 20 years. The season pass is now $89 a month. You can get more information by clicking here.
