Community Celebrates Black History Month With Parade

The Victoria community has joined thousands of other communities in taking great pride in the celebration of Black History.

A black history parade was held Saturday morning on North Street, followed by a continuation of the festivities at the community center. Numerous vendors set up booths offering pieces of African American art work and many other valuables reflecting black history.

Celebrating this month is one of many opportunities to commemorate the accomplishments done by African American leaders both of the past and the present. It’s also used as an opportunity to educate young kids about Black History.

Many explained why Black History Month is a great opportunity to include and inform the youth of Victoria about the history of the Black race.
