Commissioners vote to separate animal control division from public health department
VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria County commissioners voted to separate the animal control division from the public health department Monday.
Effective immediately the two will be their own branches.
The separation will allow for animal control to focus more on quality animal care such as vaccinations, adoptions, and fostering.
The next step will be to find a new director of animal control.
Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller said as the population of residents and animals has increased, the need for more attention on animal welfare has grown.
