Coleto Creek Park Hosts 1st Annual Nature Fest

The Fest will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entry fee will be the normal park day entry rate of $ 9.00 per vehicle. There will be no extra charge for those camping in the park. The Fest will take place in the park’s Day Use Area.

Wilfred Korth, Chief Ranger, stated that the focus of this year’s event will be to introduce families and kids to nature and outdoor activities. The day will start at 8:00 AM with a Guided Bird Walk led by Robert and Karen Benson, regional avid birders and naturalist. There will be presentations on Monarch Butterflies, Hummingbirds, Alligators, Whooping Cranes, White Tail Deer, and Bird Rookeries given by local professionals.

At Noon there will be a “Lunch and Learn” Presentation on Wildflower Photography by Jim Feig, a Photography Instructor with the Victoria Photo Club. The day will end with a Guided Nature Walk down the Park’s Nature Trail led by one of the Park’s Rangers at 4:00 PM.

Kids and adults will have a chance to test their skills at archery, fly fishing, fish casting, kayaking, and other outdoor recreation activities. Additional exhibits will be scattered throughout the park covering a variety of nature and conservation themes.
