Cold Air Sweeps into Crossroads, Will Linger through Midweek
A strong Canadian cold front arrived this afternoon in South Texas, sending temperatures plummeting on a north wind gusting to 30 mph. Areas of light to moderate rain accompanied the front but will exit the region this evening. In its wake, however, a wind chill deep into the 30s this evening will drop into the 20s early Tuesday. In fact, a freeze watch is in effect for the area valid for both Wednesday morning and Thursday morning. The large, deep Polar air mass will be slow to modify, with warming only gradual through the week. Another cold front arrives next Sunday but its impact will be minimal , with only isolated to scattered showers and a slight temperature drop associated with its passing.
